Project
Re-imagining the user experience for a national research institute bringing fresh insights to healthcare in the UK
Project background
We were appointed by Engage Interactive to deliver a discovery and prototyping project for their client This Institute, a research institute led by the University of Cambridge and funded by the Health Foundation. The client was looking to overhaul the user onboarding process for their research platform called Thiscovery.
Thiscovery is an online platform designed to gather feedback from people across the UK to help improve healthcare services.
UX Prototyping
We completely re-imagined the user journey, from initial discovery of a research project, right through to account creation and an active user dashboard.
To support this, we developed a focused wireframe prototype that brought our key recommendations to life and formed the basis for in-depth user testing with people who had experience of the healthcare system.
User Testing
We ran a series of focus groups and one-to-one interviews with people who had recently been involved in end-of-life care — either personally or through supporting a loved one. These sessions required a thoughtful and respectful approach, but the insights gathered were vital in shaping the direction of the project.
Recommendations
After applying the user testing feedback, we handed over a detailed set of recommendations to Engage’s design and development teams. We stayed involved through the design phase, providing ongoing input and consultancy thanks to our deep understanding of the project.
